We had a special time as a family visiting Southern California for my grandmothers 100th birth day party. Her name is Maxine Cashion Holsted but we referred to her as Mimi. Family from all over the country gathered to pay tribute to this Godly woman and to reflect on the ways she has and is impacting our lives. Mimi has a heart to serve the Lord and to bring His message to this dark world. She in the past has worked primarily with children, loving and caring for them and sharing the hope she has in Christ Jesus. Although she has a hard time remembering people or things that have happened in her life, when she speaks about her first love Jesus, she can talk for hours. What a true testimony she has been to us all and an example of a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.
All of Us - Adjusting to the cries in the night.

It has been one week and one day since the arrival of our little boy Levi Cash Dobkins. We are all trying to adjust to the sleepless nights and 4-hour schedule that Levi wants to be on. Emily is recovering well and getting stronger each day. I feel pretty good, though I did not have surgery one week ago. Elijah does not seem to be affected by Levi's cries in the night, but Andrea has been up several nights. God always seems to teach me about dependence on him while I am up in the middle of the night feeding or comforting our children. I do have to say that I do not spend many nights up with the children since I tend to sleep through almost anything. I was sitting on the couch last night holding our baby boy as he was crying because of some gas pains, and it was hurting me because I could not sooth him or make him feel any better. At that moment God said to me that when I am hurting and going through pains in life that He hurts with me. I know that He can heal all of my cares and worries but God does not force his help on anyone. We have to give him our troubles and pains and the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and minds. Praise God for being so involved in our lives.
