Early this summer I hurt my knee and will have surgery on it sometime in August. We had plans to travel this summer but since my injury we stayed home which has allowed me to work with several athletes before or during their competition with Athletes in Action. I have been leading a men's bible study this year at church and will start teaching Sunday School for young families this Fall. One of my highlights this year was my camping trip with Elijah at Camp Burch for the Webelos resident camp. I left my cell phone at home (on purpose) and spent 3 days working one on one with Elijah as he earned merit badges towards his arrow of light. Please pray that my knee would heal and that God would teach me more about his grace and love through this pain. |

I raced in my first triathlon in 5 years this July and loved every moment of it. It was hard to train for it since I was traveling 5 weeks prior to the event which made training more difficult to do. This fall I also started volunteering at Xenia High School working with the Varsity and Junior Varsity women's basketball team. I am helping design strength training programs for them to get the most out of their team. God is moving in a big way through our ministry and I am so glad to be a part of his plan. Pray for Spiritual fruit to develop through my work with the team. |

It has been 5 months since I started work here in Xenia and the time has flown by. Since being here I have traveled twice to Dallas for ongoing Dr. appointments, traveled to North Africa for 2 weeks and ran some strength and conditioning clinics for coaches and athletes, completed an inductive Bible Study on the book of Jonah, finished going through Experiencing God study, read 2 books (on my own), started reading The Master Plan of Evangelism, and that is only part of the training I am going through. I too have met with my mentor once a week to work through some other training center curriculum and have been working on developing our Sports Performance ministry with Athletes in Action. It has been very busy but also very rewarding too. I did not compete in any triathlons this last year but have been riding my bike at least 3 days a week in my basement. I feel very blessed to be a part of this ministry and can't think of anything else I would want to do with my life than obediently follow Christ. I am so proud of Elijah, Andrea, and Levi and hope they get many opportunities to be involved in this ministry with me. |

I very well could be the luckiest man alive. Well I don't exactly believe in luck so let me say that my life is truly blessed. When people ask Dave Ramsey how he is doing on his radio program he will respond 99.9% of the time with "Better than I deserve." I will echo that thought because of the grace and mercy God has shown me in my life. I am planning on attending the National Academy of Sports Medicine national event that will be held in Dallas at the end of March. I have not made up my mind because that would leave a heavy burden on Emily, so pray for wisdom in that decision for me. I have been thinking about training again for triathlon season. I competed 2 years ago and loved every minute of it. I have decided that if time will permit, I will start by training for the sprint distances. That is the shortest of all the triathlons and would not take up too much time away from my family. |
