Elijah did earn his Bear rank in Cub Scouts and has now graduated to Webelos status.  We just finished a Webelos resident camp at Camp Birch where we spent 3 days working on merit badges.  It was full of fun and adventure because it rained the entire time we were out there and there were several big thunder storms too.  Elijah earned his Forester and Scientist badge and several belt loop achievement awards for various activities.  We were the only ones from our pack there and camped with two other dads with their sons who were in the same position as us.  Elijah made several new friends and loved the camping experience we had, I think it created excitement to continue with Scouting for years to come.

Elijah has also changed his name to Steve to follow with Levi and Andrea's name changes but he still does answer to Elijah.  He is finishing up his 3rd grade year and has been enjoying getting involved with Cub Scouts this year.  He is over half way through earning his Bear rank in Cub Scouts and I think he will continue next year to become a Webelos.  Elijah still loves to read and play with his friends but has also added Wii to his likes after we got one for Christmas this year.  He is very good at all the games we have and says he is famous on Wii Sports Resorts game since his face is on the hot air balloon in it.

Elijah is in the 3rd grade and has been enrolled in a gifted and talented class called XTAR. Elijah was baptized this summer and just got his very own bible with both the new and old testaments in it. He was reading to Andrea about Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego being thrown into the fiery furnace by King Nebuchadnezzar.. Elijah is still set on becoming a Scientist when he grows up and is now the designated bug catcher in our house. (Dad is still the designated bug killer) He just started cub scouts this year and is looking forward to camping when it gets a little warmer outside. Pray that Elijah continues to grow closer to the Lord and that God would write his word on Elijah's heart.

Elijah is close to finishing his second year at the elementary school here in Xenia and will start 3rd grade next fall! He is doing really well in school and has a very easy time making friends. He is enjoying our new house in Xenia and has already made friends with some children a few doors down that just happen to attend our church as well. He tells us now that he wants to be a scientist when he grows up and is very interested in exploration and looking at how things work. He shares a room with his baby brother and is very kind to his brother and sister who just adore him! He also has a very giving heart and enjoys giving away his toys to his friends. I think God is teaching him a lot this year about being grateful for what we have.

Our little Pirate PDF

Elijah is doing great in his 1st grade class this year.  He is really thriving in his class and has just started to read very well.  He can now read books to Andrea at bed time and is part of a program at school called 100 days of reading.  If he reads for 100 days he will get recognized for that achievement.  He is very excited about this and we enjoy watching him learn and grow with his education.  At the end of last year we took Elijah to the eye Doctor because Elijah failed an eye examination at school.  He needed glasses to help one of his eyes focus better.  In January I took him in for a follow up visit and he gave us a patch to slide over one side of the glasses to further stimulate his left eye.  When we arrived at home Andrea started to cry because she wanted to be a pirate too.  How cute is that.  Now Elijah has to wear his patch for only 4 hours a day and Andrea will often wear a black pirate patch during the same time.
